Finding a released person in Maryland starts with the system that last held them. A county jail, the Division of Correction within DPSCS, the federal Bureau of Prisons, and immigration custody each keep different records. This privately operated reference site organizes those official routes and connects readers with every Maryland county or city release resource.

Why Maryland Needs a Map

Maryland release information is public in many settings, yet it is not held in one statewide list. Counties document local booking and release events. The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, or DPSCS, operates the Incarcerated Individual Locator for current covered custody, but it removes people who are no longer held. It does not preserve a released status or release date. The Bureau of Prisons maintains a separate federal history. Maryland Released Inmates acts as the statewide map between those systems, the official DOC terminology, and the local record custodian that can verify a past release.

The agency names matter. DOC is Maryland's Division of Correction within DPSCS, not a standalone “MDOC” or “Maryland Department of Corrections.” The same care separates the Maryland Parole Commission from the Division of Parole and Probation, and a state prison record from a county jail record.

Maryland Released Inmates is privately run. It is not connected with DPSCS, DOC, MPC, DPP, VINE, any court, sheriff, jail, BOP office, ICE office, or other government body.

  • We cannot release, hold, move, or confirm the location of a person in custody.
  • We cannot post bond, arrange a visit, or send funds for a reader.
  • We do not give legal advice or make release decisions.
  • We cannot promise that every outside address, fee, or phone number remains current.

Only the responsible county office, DPSCS, a court, or another originating agency can officially confirm custody, charges, transfer, or release.
